Around the world, urban mobility problems contribute to pollution, safety concerns, and disparities in job, health care, and education access. BCG’s Center for Mobility Innovationcollaborated with Detroitand a conglomerate of local public and private stakeholders to help improve mobility in the city. Over a 12 week innovation sprint, partner organizationsbrainstormed more than 100 ideasfor tackling Detroit’s mobility challenges. The options were whittled down to six projects that ran as 12 month pilots, ranging from a revolutionary car-sharing approach to dynamically-scheduled public transportation.
We’ve modeled mobility scenarios in dozens of cities around the world and have worked one-on-one with many of these cities to put mobility solutions in place. InParis, we helped city leaders develop a new mobility strategy with the goal of reinventing mobility in the city by 2030. InTongzhou, we created a ten-point action plan designed to create a smart city that deploys shared mobility, autonomous mobility, and mobility as a service. And inBoston, we partnered with the World Economic Forum and municipal leaders to assess Boston’s mobility status and conduct simulations using autonomous mobility.
